about
established
The Bournemouth Electric Club, Broadway Lane was founded in 1935 as a sport and social club for employees of the Southern Electricity Board, however the club has now opened membership for all as it is no longer affiliated to Scottish & Southern Electric.
Although many employees remain as members, taking part in the many activities at the club. Football has always been at the heart of the club and participated in the top flight of local leagues, for both adults and youth.
Youth football arrived at the club in 1990 when the football section invited the then Castle Gate Youth FC teams to join and form Bournemouth Electric Youth FC
club development
In addition to our youth section we now have plans to include U18s and girls’ football in the near future. Many of our teams regularly challenge for the major honours within the local and county leagues. We have had players from all age groups attend development squads and schools of excellence with premier and football league clubs.
As part of our development we now look forward to a new opportunity to form a partnership with Active Dorset in the development and use of a new 4G facility which will be located less than a mile from our current club house. This facility will enable us to offer more diversity and development of football for all genders, ages and abilities. This together with Bournemouth Electric Youth FC becoming a Charted Standard Club will secure the future success and development of football for all at Bournemouth Electric.
